The Metro Jaya Regional Police have deployed 7,643 joint personnel to ensure the smooth running of the National Dhikr and Prayer event at the National Monument (Monas) area, Central Jakarta, on Saturday (1/8/202<0xA0>6). The event is being held to commemorate the 81st Anniversary of Indonesia’s Independence.

The event is expected to be attended by approximately 100,000 participants arriving from various regions, including Jakarta, West Java, Banten, and other areas.

Deputy Chief of Metro Jaya Police, Brigadier General Pol. Dekananto Eko Purwono, emphasised that all officers in the field should prioritise a humanistic approach while remaining vigilant in performing their security duties. “All personnel must carry out their duties professionally, humanistically, and with full vigilance to ensure the entire series of activities proceeds safely, orderly, and smoothly,” said Dekananto.

He also reminded officers to serve the public with patience. “Prioritise patience in serving the community, remain calm in action, and maintain communication and coordination until the entire series of activities is declared complete,” he asserted.

The security strategy involves pre-emptive and preventive measures, including early detection and site sterilisation conducted by the Bomb Disposal (Jibom) and K9 teams. Furthermore, security will be implemented through both open and undercover patrols, routine patrols, traffic regulation, and the provision of health posts, ambulances, and evacuation routes in every sector.

To facilitate the mobility of the 100,000 participants, the police have organised access to the Monas area through three main gates: the North-East Gate, the South-East Gate, and the South-West Gate.

The government has also prepared 22 parking areas with a total capacity for 1,450 buses, 3,680 cars, and 50 motorcycles. To prevent vehicle congestion around Monas, every bus is being directed to parking areas at JIExpo Kemayoran.

The Deputy Chief of Police urged participants to comply with officer instructions and use parking facilities as intended. Meanwhile, the general public who do not have business in the Monas area are advised to avoid the area. “The public is advised to use alternative routes or utilise public transport to avoid traffic congestion around the Monas area,” he concluded.
