Jakarta (ANTARA) - Metro Jaya Regional Police are deploying 3,545 personnel to secure and serve the protest actions in commemoration of National Education Day (Hardiknas) 2026, which will take place at several points in Jakarta on Monday.

The Head of Public Relations of Metro Jaya Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Pol Budi Hermanto, stated that personnel will be distributed to several locations, namely the Monas area, the DPR/MPR RI Building, as well as the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemendiktisaintek).

“Metro Jaya Regional Police are preparing 3,545 personnel. This number consists of 3,351 personnel from Metro Jaya Regional Police units, 176 personnel from police resort units, and 18 personnel from Service Chiefs (Kayan) and Control Officers (Padal),” he said in his statement in Jakarta on Monday.

In addition, the event is supported by 250 Community Protection and Security Belt (Sabuk Kamtibmas) personnel. They are placed at several points to ensure that the opinion expression activities run safely, orderly, smoothly, and conducive.

Budi said that they will prioritise a humane and persuasive approach in serving the protest masses. Personnel are also prepared to carry out traffic arrangements, object guarding, advisories, and anticipation of potential public order disturbances.

“We emphasise to all personnel to act persuasively and humanely. The presence of the National Police is to ensure that the public can express their aspirations safely, without disturbing public order,” he stated.

“We urge road users to pay attention to traffic conditions and adjust their journeys, especially around the Monas area, Horse Statue, Jalan Medan Merdeka, DPR/MPR RI, Gatot Subroto, and areas around Kemendikdasmen and Kemendiktisaintek,” he added.

Senior Commissioner Budi also asked drivers to follow the instructions of officers on the ground. Traffic officers will assist in clearing congestion if there is an increase in crowd activity.

“Please follow the officers’ instructions. Traffic engineering is situational, adapting to the dynamics on the ground,” he said.

He urged the protest masses to express their opinions in an orderly and peaceful manner, and for action participants not to bring dangerous objects and not to be easily provoked.

“To my brothers and sisters who will express aspirations, we urge you to remain orderly, peaceful, not to bring objects that could endanger, and to remain wise in responding to the dynamics on the ground. Let us together keep Jakarta safe and conducive,” he concluded.

According to him, expressing opinions in public is a right of citizens protected by law, but its implementation must still consider the safety, order, and comfort of other people.

“In principle, Metro Jaya Regional Police are present to serve. We hope that the Hardiknas 2026 action runs safely and orderly, and aspirations can be conveyed well,” said Budi.
