Metro Jaya Police Confirm Report Against Saiful Mujani
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Metro Jaya Police have confirmed the existence of a police report in the name of Robina Akbar from the East Jakarta Community Alliance against Saiful Mujani. “Yes, it is true, reported on Wednesday, 8 April 2026, around 21:30 WIB, related to Article 246 of Law No. 1 of 2023,” said the Head of Public Relations of Metro Jaya Police, Commissioner Pol Budi Hermanto, in his statement in Jakarta on Thursday. However, he was not yet able to explain in detail the report that has been registered with number LP/B/2428/IV/2026/SPKT/POLDA METRO JAYA, dated 8 April 2026. Article 246 of Law No. 1 of 2023 contains provisions on the new Criminal Code regulating the criminal offence of public incitement, whether oral or written. In addition to being reported to Metro Jaya Police, the General Chairman of the National Presidium 08, H Kurniawan, also plans to report Saiful Mujani and Islah Bahrawi to the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency regarding allegations of calls to overthrow the government. “Insya Allah, tomorrow Friday (10/4), I along with our legal team will visit the National Police Headquarters Criminal Investigation Agency to file an official report against attempts to overthrow the power of Prabowo Subianto,” said Kurniawan in Jakarta on Wednesday (8/4). He stated that his side is reporting the two because they are considered the most vocal in voicing calls to overthrow the government. “Brothers Saiful Mujani and Islah Bahrawi, yes, because they are the ones who are most enthusiastic in voicing, inviting, inciting, and spreading hatred, inviting many people to take to the streets to overthrow the legitimate government,” said Kurniawan. He also claimed to have attempted to open communication with Saiful Mujani and Islah Bahrawi to retract their statements and convey an apology, but received no response. Due to not receiving a response, Kurniawan and volunteers joined in the DPP Rampas, Setia 08, Garda Raya 08, Garuda Astacita Nusantara, and Garuda Emas chose to take the legal route.
