Metro Jaya Police Confirm No Coordination with Mass Organisations for Protest Security
The Head of Public Relations for Metro Jaya Regional Police, Kombes Budi Hermanto, has emphasised that his department did not coordinate with mass organisations (ormates) in securing the series of demonstrations that recently resulted in chaos in Jakarta.
Budi explained that all security procedures were conducted through coordination with official state elements and relevant agencies, ranging from the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) to local government authorities.
“Polda Metro Jaya submitted requests to the TNI via Kodam Jaya, and to the Jakarta Provincial Government through the Health Office, the Transport Agency, and the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), as well as requesting security for the DPR,” Budi stated at the Metro Jaya Police Headquarters on Wednesday (2/9).
This statement was issued in response to police inquiries regarding the alleged involvement of groups wearing specific attributes, including the appearance of individuals wearing white headbands in several videos that went viral on social media.
Regarding the widely circulated amateur videos, Budi stated that the recordings have become material for investigators from the Criminal Investigation Directorate of Metro Jaya Police as part of the investigation process. However, he emphasised the importance of precision in filtering information.
Investigators, Budi continued, will distinguish between videos that record the actual facts of the event and content that has been manipulated or created using Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology.
“Many videos that appear to align with the facts and events are actually AI-generated. Investigators will not be distracted by hoax news,” he asserted.
He added that a number of information circulating in the public sphere has been identified as hoaxes, misinformation, or AI-engineered content. Nevertheless, the police continue to analyse videos deemed relevant to uncovering the full sequence of events.
“We are still analysing information regarding these videos,” Budi concluded.
