Groups of protesters who staged a demonstration at the Silang Selatan area of Monas, Central Jakarta, have dispersed. Polda Metro Jaya confirmed that the public expression of opinion proceeded safely, orderly, and under control.

Polda Metro Jaya Head of Public Relations, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, stated that police personnel were present on the ground to provide services to members of the public expressing their views, while also ensuring that other community activities continued to run smoothly.

“Personnel were present to provide services and ensure that the expression of opinion activities proceeded safely, orderly, and did not disrupt public activities,” said Commissioner Budi in his statement on Wednesday (17/6/2026).

It is known that two groups of protesters held demonstrations in the Silang Selatan Monas area earlier this afternoon. Police estimated the number of participants reached 800 people.

The protesters came from the East Jakarta Community Alliance, numbering around 500 people. They conveyed demands for the relevant authorities to prosecute corruptors involved in the MBG Programme and voiced calls for the MBG Programme to be continued.

Additionally, there were protesters from the Work Unit Leadership of SP Chemical, Energy and Mining of the All-Indonesia Workers’ Union at PT Indobuildco, The Sultan Hotel & Residence unit, numbering around 300 people. This group of protesters was known to have dispersed at 12.00 WIB and returned to the Sultan Hotel.

Furthermore, the situation around the MPR/DPR RI complex, both at the front entrance and the rear entrance or Pancasila Gate, was reported to be clear of protesters. This condition indicates that the situation regarding public expression of opinion activities within the jurisdiction of Polda Metro Jaya remains under control.

“We respect the public’s right to express their opinions. We urge all protest participants to continue maintaining order, not to be easily provoked, and to follow the directions of officers on the ground. Let us together keep Jakarta safe, orderly, and conducive,” he continued.

Polda Metro Jaya also urged members of the public conducting activities around the Monas area and its surroundings to remain aware of the traffic situation and follow officers’ directions. The public can contact the police service on 110 if they require assistance or observe any disturbances to public security and order.
