Metro Jaya Police Chief Irjen Asep Edi Suheri has assured that the case of the acid attack on anti-corruption activist Andrie Yunus will be investigated objectively and transparently. Irjen Asep stated that every development in the investigation and findings in this case will be communicated to the public.

“We emphasise that in handling this case, we from the Metro Jaya Police and National Police Headquarters, in accordance with instructions from the President and the National Police Chief, are committed to carrying out the entire process objectively, transparently, and accountably,” said Irjen Asep Edi Suheri at Metro Jaya Police Headquarters, Jakarta, on Wednesday (18/3/2026).

During this press conference, CCTV footage was shown depicting the route up to the faces of the acid attack perpetrators on Andrie. The police stated that the perpetrators of the acid attack are initialled BHC and MAK.

“And today, we will convey developments from the results of deepening the investigation and interrogation, particularly those related to findings from video and CCTV recordings,” he said.

Polri’s Head of the Professional and Security Division, Irjen Abdul Karim, also attended the press conference. Irjen Abdul stated that his presence is to ensure that the investigation of this case is conducted transparently, accountably, objectively, and in accordance with applicable mechanisms.

“My presence here as Head of the Professional and Security Division is to ensure that the mechanisms and investigation processes are truly in line with standard operating procedures, accountable, and transparent, thereby minimising any gaps for public complaints,” said Irjen Abdul Karim.

As is known, Andrie Yunus became the victim of an acid attack allegedly carried out by two perpetrators in Central Jakarta on Thursday (12/3) night. The incident occurred while Andrie was on his way home after attending a podcast event at the office of the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI).

TNI Headquarters has also spoken out regarding the acid attack case on Andrie. TNI stated that four of its soldiers are suspected as the perpetrators of the attack, three of whom are first officers, namely captain and first lieutenant.

“Captain NDP, First Lieutenant SL, First Lieutenant BHW, Sergeant ES,” stated TNI’s Deputy Chief of Staff for Military Police Major General Yusri Nuryanto during a press conference at TNI Headquarters.

Regarding the TNI’s target timeline to complete this case, Yusri said it would be done as quickly as possible in accordance with public expectations. He conveyed that the acid attack case on Andrie Yunus, carried out by several of his soldiers, would be handled professionally.
