Metro Jaya Police Chief Officially Promoted to Three-Star General, National Police Chief Cites Follow-Up to Prabowo's Directive
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo stated that he promoted the Metro Jaya Police Chief to the rank of three-star general or Komisaris Jenderal (Komjen) as a follow-up to the instructions from Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.
“Follow-up to the President’s directive for Jakarta, where the Pangdam and Kapolda are three-star generals,” Sigit said in Jakarta on Thursday (14/5/2026).
It is known that the Metro Jaya Regional Police is now officially led by a general officer with the rank of three-star general or Komjen.
The position of Metro Jaya Police Chief remains held by Asep Edi Suheri, who was previously ranked Inspector General and now holds the rank of Komjen.
“It is true that the current Metro Jaya Police Chief holds the rank of Komisaris Jenderal Polisi based on the Presidential Decree of the Republic of Indonesia Number 38/POLRI/YEAR 2026 dated 13 May 2026,” he said.
Asep Edi Suheri is a man born in Tasikmalaya, West Java, on 16 November 1972. The graduate of the Police Academy (Akpol) class of 1994 is known to have a long track record in the field of criminal investigation and law enforcement, particularly in uncovering cybercrime cases, narcotics, and cross-border crimes.
Previously, Asep was appointed as Metro Jaya Police Chief through Telegram Letter Number ST/1764/VIII/KEP./2025, replacing Komjen Pol. Karyoto, who was appointed as Head of the Security Maintenance Agency (Kabaharkam) of the National Police.
