Metro Jaya Police Chief: Nugraha Sakanti Award a Spur to Boost Public Service
Metro Jaya Police Chief Commissioner General Asep Edi Suheri has emphasised that the Nugraha Sakanti honour awarded by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto must be a great mandate and a spur for all ranks, from resort police down to sector police, to improve the quality of public services. “This award from the President is a great mandate for us. I ask that this become a spur for all ranks, especially at the resort and sector police levels, to continue improving services to the community,” Asep said in a statement after attending the 80th Bhayangkara Day ceremony in Cikeas, Bogor, West Java, on Wednesday. The Metro Jaya Regional Police received the Nugraha Sakanti honour from President Prabowo Subianto for its dedication, service, and significant contribution to maintaining public security and order during the 80th Bhayangkara Day commemoration. The award is stipulated in Presidential Decree of the Republic of Indonesia Number 37/TK/Tahun 2026, read out by the President’s Military Secretary, Major General TNI Wahyu Yudhayana. He also instructed all grassroots-level ranks to tighten cross-sectoral coordination and expand social service programmes. This step is taken so that the presence of the Indonesian National Police can be felt directly by the community within the Metro Jaya Regional Police’s jurisdiction. The former Deputy Chief of the Criminal Investigation Agency also guaranteed that the commitment to improving performance would be realised concretely in the field through the optimisation of the flagship programme ‘Jaga Jakarta untuk Indonesia’, which is currently underway. According to him, the programme will continue to be intensified to ensure police officers are always present, responsive, and close to the capital’s residents. Beyond law enforcement and services, Asep stressed the importance of inter-agency synergy to safeguard the nation’s image. His party is committed to strengthening the three-pillar collaboration with the Jakarta Provincial Government and the Jaya Military Command to ensure the regional situation remains stable, safe, and orderly. The three-star general stated he is ready to implement the points of President Prabowo’s directives as a moral compass in duty, especially those related to the national economy. “We are ready to carry out the President’s directives. There is no prosperity without stability, and no investment growth without legal certainty. The Metro Jaya Regional Police is fully committed to being the front line in maintaining stability in Jakarta,” he said.
