Metro Jaya Police Begal-Hunting Team Arrests 4 Suspects, 2 of Them Shot
Directorate of General Criminal Investigation (Dirkrimum) of the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Iman Imanuddin, told reporters at Metro Jaya Police on Friday (22 May 2026) that 190 incidents had been attributed to the group from December 2025 to May 2026, and that they had carried out their offences along the way.
Iman explained that in the arrest of the begal suspects, police were guided by Peraturan Kapolri, KUHAP and KUHP. This was to ensure that every act of law enforcement by the authorities respects human rights.
“As you have observed or seen, for four days in a row, only in situations that threaten public safety and the safety of officers have our personnel taken firm and measured action against the suspects and perpetrators we can secure,” he said.
He added that the firm and measured actions were taken against those who used firearms. This was based on calculations, considering the safety risks to residents and to officers.
“Thus we secured them without (needing) other firm and measured actions. We inform you all that all suspects to whom we applied firm and measured actions are those who used firearms,” he said.
“This was calculated based on the safety risks to members of the public around the place of operation or arrest, and the safety of our officers. That is certainly one of the considerations for why we carried out those measures,” he continued.
Kasubdit Jatanras AKBP Abdul Rahim said two suspects were subjected to firm and measured actions, namely AE and HI. Police are also still pursuing two other suspects on the wanted list (DPO) who are associates of the two arrested.
“The initials of the suspects we secured today are two people, namely AE and HI, tied to one incident described by the Director earlier. The robberies with violence and shootings, including one in Kebon Jeruk, have the initials AE and HI. And two of their associates are now DPOs, and we are still pursuing them,” he said.
