Metro Jaya Police Arrest Two Armed Robbers Active at Six Incidents in East Jakarta and Bekasi

Tonight we have made another arrest of a suspect who had recently gone viral on Cikarang Info. The individual has been detained by the team from the Metro Jaya Regional Police’s Directorate of General Criminal Investigation for criminal acts of robbery with violence and robbery with aggravating circumstances, according to Kombes Iman Imanuddin, Director of the Directorate for General Criminal Investigation, on Tuesday, 19 May 2026. The two suspects operated with firearms. For safety reasons, police employed decisive and proportionate action, including shooting the perpetrators. ‘Regarding the two suspects, at the moment our officers on the ground are about to carry out the arrest, the suspects were bearing firearms, so with consideration for the safety of the public and the safety of our officers on the ground, we carried out decisive and proportionate action,’ he said. Iman stated that his side would not hesitate to take firm action to protect public safety. The two perpetrators are said to have acted at six crime scenes in Jakarta Timur and Bekasi. ‘From the statements of the suspect, based on interviews during the journey, six crime scenes have been carried out in the East Jakarta and Bekasi areas. And earlier we secured the individual in the Pasar Rebo area,’ he added. Iman said the suspects will be charged under Articles 477, 479, and 306, with a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison. He noted that the case may involve other networks of perpetrators. ‘On this occasion we also extend our thanks to the Poskamling units that have been under our supervision, which helped provide information to the team from the Metro Jaya Regional Police’s Directorate of General Criminal Investigation, especially the anti-begallery (begal) team,’ he concluded.
