Metro Jaya Police: Arrest of Roy Suryo and Dr Tifa Due to Complete Case Files
Metro Jaya Regional Police have confirmed the arrest of Roy Suryo and Tifauzia Tyassuma (Dr Tifa), suspects in a case involving allegations of a fake diploma belonging to Indonesia’s 7th President, Joko Widodo. Metro Jaya Police stated the arrests are a continuation of the legal process after the case files were declared complete (P-21) by the prosecution.
Head of Public Relations for Metro Jaya Police, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, said Roy Suryo and Dr Tifa were arrested by investigators from the State Security Sub-Directorate (Kamneg) of the General Criminal Investigation Directorate. “As an affirmation, this arrest is not a standalone action but a continuation of an ongoing process; the case files have been declared complete (P21) by the prosecution,” Budi Hermanto said during a press conference at Metro Jaya Police Headquarters, Jakarta, Friday (19/6/2026).
At this stage, the prosecution has also stated that the evidence is complete and meets the requirements, with every step taken in accordance with criminal procedural law while upholding the principle of equality before the law. “Thus, this step has a clear and accountable legal basis,” Budi said.
Budi Hermanto stressed that the arrests of Roy Suryo and Dr Tifa were not directed at an individual or their views. “Rather, it is directed at actions suspected of violating criminal provisions,” he added.
Metro Jaya Police assured that the case handling process is being conducted professionally, proportionally, and measurably. “We also underline that an arrest is not a verdict; an arrest is a legitimate part of the legal process, and every person with suspect status is protected by the presumption of innocence until a court decision has permanent legal force,” said Budi Hermanto.
Previously, a lawyer stated that Roy Suryo and Dr Tifa had been arrested by Metro Jaya Police. The lawyer mentioned the arrests were related to the case of accusing President Joko Widodo of having a fake diploma. “Today, Friday 19 June 2026, at approximately 07.00, our client Roy Suryo Notodiprojo was reported by his wife to have been arrested by Metro Jaya Police investigators. At the same time, we also received information that Tifauzia Tyassuma was also arrested,” Petrus Selestinus told reporters, Friday (19/6).
