Metro Jaya Police Arrest Drug Dealer in West Jakarta, 4 Kg of Cannabis Seized

The Narcotics Directorate of the Metro Jaya Police has disrupted the circulation of cannabis in the Palmerah area of West Jakarta. The suspect, identified only by the initial J (24), was arrested while attempting to conduct a transaction involving the illicit substance.

Head of Unit 2, Sub-Directorate 2 of the Metro Jaya Police Narcotics Directorate, Kompol Tri Hamdani, stated that the case came to light after police received information regarding drug transactions at the location. The Opsnal team immediately conducted an investigation, which ultimately led to the suspect’s arrest.

“We, from the Metro Jaya Police Narcotics Directorate, received information from the public that drug transactions frequently occurred at Tomang Asri, Jatipulo, Palmerah, West Jakarta,” Tri told reporters on Thursday (6/8/2026).

During a search, police discovered a cardboard box wrapped in black bubble wrap containing four packages of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis, with gross weights of approximately 971 grammes, 1,016 grammes, 993 grammes, and 1,016 grammes respectively.

“We from the Narcotics Directorate conducted an investigation at the location and found a man with the initial J (24) about to carry out a drug transaction. Upon searching him, we found four kilogrammes of cannabis,” he said.

The suspect and the evidence have been secured at the Metro Jaya Police Headquarters. The police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
