The Metro Jaya Regional Police (Polda Metro Jaya) is committed to strengthening communication with the public while directly listening to residents’ complaints within its jurisdiction through an innovative programme titled ‘Jakarta On The Spot’. The Head of Public Relations for Metro Jaya Police, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, stated that the programme is designed to absorb complaints, needs, and hopes directly from residents. “Input related to security, area patrols, and employment issues will be our concern together with relevant agencies,” he said in a statement in Jakarta on Tuesday. Budi explained that the event, held in a warm and communicative atmosphere, serves as an effective means for the police to capture the dynamics of public order and security at the grassroots level. During a dialogue held in Kampung Rawa Julang, Ganda Mekar Village, West Cikarang, Bekasi Regency, representatives of residents and online motorcycle taxi drivers voiced several crucial issues. Among them were the deduction amounts from ride-hailing applications deemed burdensome, the lack of street lighting in crime-prone areas, and juvenile brawls in the underpass areas of Tambun and Cibitung. Additionally, residents highlighted the need to strengthen the response of security units in the MM2100 industrial estate, the presence of police posts in remote areas, follow-up actions on an alleged murder case in Kertamukti, and security preparations ahead of the 2026 Village Head Elections. Responding to these complaints, the Director of Special Criminal Investigation for Metro Jaya Police, Commissioner Victor Dean Mackbon, specifically reminded the public to increase their vigilance against economic crime modus operandi, such as illegal job recruitment brokers, illegal online loans (pinjol), and vehicle debt collection practices that violate regulations. “The public is urged not to hesitate and to immediately report to the police if they experience intimidation, fraud, or other acts that potentially violate the law,” Victor said. The ‘Jakarta On The Spot’ event was also attended by the Sub-Directorate of Public Information of Metro Jaya Police, community police officers (Bhabinkamtibmas), military village supervisory officers (Babinsa), neighbourhood unit heads, and local community figures. Residents positively welcomed the presence of Metro Jaya Police and Indonesian Military (TNI) officials at the event and expressed hope that synergy between the police, local government, and community elements could accelerate follow-up actions on the aspirations that had been conveyed.
