Metro Jaya Marine Police Arrest Two Illegal Drug Sellers Targeting North Jakarta Fishermen
The Law Enforcement Sub-directorate of the Metro Jaya Regional Police Marine and Air Police (Ditpolairud) has arrested two perpetrators involved in the illegal distribution of potent drugs, including types such as Tramadol, Hexymer, Trihexyphenidyl, and Mersi. The suspects were selling these prohibited medicines to fishermen and ship crews in the Muara Baru area of North Jakarta.
The Director of Marine and Air Police of Metro Jaya, Commissioner Mustofa, stated a commitment to eradicating the unauthorised circulation of potent drugs, noting the significant risk to public health, particularly for coastal communities, fishermen, and fishing vessel crews in North Jakarta. “We are committed to eradicating the distribution of unauthorised potent drugs because of their potential to endanger public health, especially among coastal communities, fishermen, and fishing vessel crews,” Mustofa said in a statement on Sunday (7/6/2026).
He added that both suspects and the seized evidence have been secured for further investigation by the Law Enforcement Sub-directorate. Investigators are currently conducting further developments to uncover potential involvement of other networks.
The two suspects face charges under Articles 435 and/or 436, paragraphs (1) and (2) of Law Number 17 of 2023 concerning Health, relating to unauthorised pharmaceutical practices and the distribution of pharmaceutical preparations that do not meet required standards.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Law Enforcement Sub-directorate, AKBP Ardhie Demastyo, noted that this case was uncovered through the development of a previous investigation, leading to the arrest of suspects N and RR at a kiosk in the Muara Baru, Penjaringan area of North Jakarta. “A total of 23,284 tablets of illegal potent drugs were seized,” Ardhie reported.
From the suspects’ possession, police seized Tramadol, Hexymer, Trihexyphenidyl, and Mersi (Riklona/Clonazepam). Additionally, the proceeds from the sales and one mobile phone used for transactions were also confiscated.
