Metro Jaya Brimob Disperse Illegal Street Racing in Bekasi, Two Youths Arrested
Personnel from the D Pioneer Battalion of the Metro Jaya Regional Police Brimob unit successfully dispersed illegal street racing activities in Bekasi Regency. Two young men were arrested during the operation.
The case came to light when personnel were conducting regional patrols at several high-risk locations in Bekasi Regency in the early hours of Sunday (7/6/2026). These routine patrols are part of the National Police’s ongoing efforts to maintain security and ensure public peace.
“The presence of personnel on the ground aims to prevent potential disturbances to public order at an early stage, while ensuring that the community can carry out their activities safely and comfortably,” stated the Commander of the Metro Jaya Regional Police Brimund, Kombes Henik Maryanto, in a statement on Sunday (7/6).
During the patrol, officers discovered a group of teenagers gathered in the Jalan Irian and MM2100 Cikarang Barat areas. Officers subsequently conducted inspections and guidance measures to prevent illegal racing that could potentially endanger public safety.
“Two young men, along with one motorcycle, were subsequently handed over to the local police for further data collection and guidance in accordance with applicable procedures,” he explained.
Kombes Henik urged the public, particularly parents, to increase supervision of their children’s activities outside the home at night. Collective concern is a vital factor in preventing juvenile delinquency and maintaining a safe and conducive environment.
“This activity is carried out as a preventive measure to maintain regional security and to anticipate illegal racing, brawls, and other disturbances to public order that have the potential to disrupt community stability,” he said.
The patrols targeted several road sections that frequently serve as gathering points for teenagers from night until dawn, including the Kalimalang Jababeka, South Tambun, North Tambun, and West Cikarang areas. Throughout the patrol, Brimob personnel monitored the situation and conducted inspections in a humane manner.
“They also provided advisories to the youth to avoid engaging in activities that could endanger themselves or other road users,” he added.
