Jakarta – The Criminal Investigation Directorate of Metro Jakarta Police has revealed that the suspected perpetrators of the acid attack against KontraS activist Andrie Yunus fled in two different directions, towards South Jakarta and East Jakarta. This was determined from CCTV footage in the vicinity of the incident.

“Subsequently, following the incident, our team traced the suspected perpetrators’ escape routes in different directions,” said Kombes Polisi Iman Imanuddin, Head of the Criminal Investigation Directorate of Metro Jakarta Police, during a press conference in Jakarta on Monday (16 March 2026).

Iman elaborated that one motorcycle travelled against traffic on Jalan Salemba towards Senen, then to Jalan Kramat Raya, towards Tugu Tani and subsequently towards Stasiun Gondangdia. From Gondangdia, the route led towards South Jakarta (Jaksel). The second vehicle, meanwhile, continued straight towards Jalan Pramuka Sari 2.

“Subsequently towards Matraman and monitored via CCTV towards the Jatinegara area. Then to Jalan Otto Iskandardinata, East Jakarta,” he stated.

Iman also noted that the suspected perpetrators had been following Andrie Yunus since he was at the office of the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI) on Jalan Pangeran Diponegoro, Pegangsaan, Central Jakarta. The perpetrators began following the victim after he concluded his activities at that location.

“The victim did not proceed directly to the location of the incident, but first refuelled at a petrol station on Cikini Raya,” Iman explained.

According to Iman, medical examination showed the victim sustained acid trauma, with burns on the face, arms, torso and other limbs.

“Hopefully the victim will soon recover. Let us together pray that our friend and colleague regains their health so they can resume their activities,” he concluded.
