METI pushes for clean energy project investment through IndoEBTKE
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Renewable Energy Society (METI) is pushing for the accelerated implementation and investment of new, renewable, and energy conservation (EBTKE) projects to ensure they are realised on the ground through the organisation of IndoEBTKE ConEx 2026, which brings together developers and investors.
METI General Chairman Norman Ginting stated that the forum serves as a crucial momentum to accelerate the execution of EBTKE projects, particularly renewable energy projects moving from the construction phase into operations.
“We are creating a meeting space between developers, technology providers, and policymakers to accelerate the realisation of these projects,” he said in a statement in Jakarta on Monday.
The forum, held alongside the Indonesian Energy Conservation and Efficiency Society (MASKEEI) with support from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) from 2–4 September in Jakarta, represents a commitment to accelerating clean energy project execution, opening access to green investment, and strengthening national energy system resilience through regional collaboration and technological innovation.
In addition to accelerating project realisation, the organisation is also encouraging efforts to expand access to green investment for EBTKE development in Indonesia.
METI Secretary General Elvi Nasution, who is also the organising committee chair for the forum, emphasised the importance of connecting project developers with both national and international financial institutions.
Meanwhile, MASKEEI General Chairman Andhika Prastawa emphasised the importance of energy conservation and efficiency as part of strengthening national energy system resilience while supporting Indonesia’s energy transition acceleration.
“We are encouraging the strengthening of energy conservation and efficiency implementation through various innovative initiatives, including the development of ‘energy efficiency as a service’ schemes, to increase awareness, expand the adoption of energy-saving technologies, and optimise energy use in both the industrial and commercial sectors,” he said.
Previously, METI General Chairman Norman Ginting stated that the organisation is committed to strengthening and overseeing the acceleration of the national energy transition and new and renewable energy (EBT) development.
“METI will continue to strengthen its role as a strategic partner to the government in driving a directed and impactful national energy transition,” Norman said in his statement in Jakarta on Wednesday (6/5).
Norman, who also serves as the Director of Projects & Operations at Pertamina New & Renewable Energy (Pertamina NRE), expressed readiness to deepen cross-stakeholder collaboration in supporting Indonesia’s strategic clean energy agenda.
He also ensured that METI remains a strategic partner to the government in delivering more directed, inclusive, and impactful EBT development.
The energy transition is viewed not only as an emission reduction agenda but also as a momentum to strengthen energy independence and drive national economic growth based on clean energy.
“The development of new and renewable energy must become the foundation of Indonesia’s energy resilience and independence, while simultaneously opening opportunities for new economic growth, green job creation, and the strengthening of national industrial and technological capacity,” said Norman.
Looking ahead, Norman wants METI to be a collaborative platform capable of accelerating various national EBT strategic agendas, ranging from the development of 100 GW of solar power (PLTS), the implementation of E20 bioethanol, Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), geothermal, biomass, co-firing, waste-to-energy, to various other clean energy initiatives.
According to him, developing these sectors is vital to strengthening national energy security while reducing dependence on fossil fuels.
In addition to promoting EBT project development, METI is also directed to take a more active role in supporting the growth of the national clean energy industry ecosystem.
