Meter tampering rife in Medan cabs

MEDAN, North Sumatra: The local chapter of the Indonesian
Consumers Foundation called yesterday for the municipal
administration to crack down on taxi meter tampering.

"We hope the municipal administration will crack down on taxis
operating with altered meters in and around the city because they
cheat customers," Syahrun Isa, the chairman of the foundation's
local chapter, said.

He said many consumers have filed complaints of meter
tampering with the agency, Antara reported.(rms)
