Meta Tests WhatsApp Plus: What Features Does It Offer and How Much Does It Cost?
JAKARTA – The WhatsApp messaging platform is reportedly trialling a new subscription service named WhatsApp Plus. Similar to Instagram Plus and Snapchat+, WhatsApp Plus offers a more personalised experience for paying users. This feature was first revealed by several users, including social media consultant Matt Navarra. WhatsApp’s parent company, Meta, has also confirmed the WhatsApp Plus trial. “WhatsApp is testing a new optional subscription called WhatsApp Plus, designed for users who want more ways to organise and personalise their experience,” said a Meta spokesperson, as reported by TechCrunch on Wednesday (22/4/2026). What does WhatsApp Plus offer? According to the Meta spokesperson, subscribers will receive enhanced functional features through WhatsApp Plus. These include pinning up to 20 chats, far more than the three chats that can be pinned in the free version. Users can also create custom chat lists and apply specific themes or sounds to those lists. In addition, WhatsApp Plus allows users to apply custom chat themes, app icons, and specific ringtones to chat lists. Although it offers various additional features, WhatsApp Plus subscribers will not be free from ads on the Status feature.
