Meta Signs Agreement with AWS to Support AI Agents on AWS Graviton Chips

Meta has signed an agreement to deploy AWS Graviton processors on a large scale. This agreement marks a significant expansion of the long-term partnership between the two companies as Meta builds the next generation of AI.

The deployment begins with tens of millions of Graviton cores and may be expanded according to the development of Meta’s AI capabilities. This agreement reflects a change in the way AI infrastructure is built: while GPUs remain crucial for training large models, the presence of AI agents creates enormous demand for workloads that are highly CPU-dependent—real-time reasoning, code generation, search, and step-by-step task orchestration. Graviton5 is specifically designed for these workloads, allowing Meta to run them efficiently at scale.

The chips will be used to run various workloads at Meta, including supporting the company’s AI efforts. This work requires infrastructure capable of handling billions of interactions while coordinating complex, step-by-step agent workflows—precisely the type of CPU-dependent work that Graviton is designed to handle.
