Meta Officially Launches Paid WhatsApp Plus, Instagram and Facebook Subscriptions
Meta has officially launched paid subscription services for Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp. The service adds a ‘Plus’ suffix to each app to distinguish it from the free version. Thus, they are now referred to as Facebook Plus, Instagram Plus, and WhatsApp Plus.
Subscribers will gain access to additional features, including profile customisation and analytics for Stories.
Generally, Facebook Plus and Instagram Plus offer similar features, while WhatsApp Plus has somewhat different offerings.
Both Facebook Plus and Instagram Plus allow users to see how many people rewatch Stories. The paid service also enables customers to create unlimited audience lists beyond the Close Friends list.
Meta also provides features such as Super Heart – a special reaction animation for Stories – custom app icons, additional bio fonts, and extra profile pins.
According to Meta, these features are aimed at creators and users seeking to better develop and understand their audiences.
Unlike Instagram and Facebook, WhatsApp Plus focuses more on app personalisation and messaging experience.
The paid WhatsApp service offers features such as custom app themes, special ringtones, additional pinned chats, premium stickers, and more.
Meta’s Head of Product, Naomi Gleit, also promised additional features for the paid social media services in the future.
Pricing is set at $3.99 per month for Instagram Plus and Facebook Plus (approximately Rp71,073), and $2.99 for WhatsApp Plus (approximately Rp53,260).
Meta confirmed that the Plus packages do not replace the previously available Meta Verified service.
