Meta Develops WhatsApp Plus Service, Here Are Its Features
Meta is preparing a major update for its users by developing a paid service called WhatsApp Plus. The service will be available for Android and iOS devices and is currently under development. Testing is reportedly taking place on beta versions across both platforms.
This premium tier is designed for users who want deeper aesthetic control, more efficient message organisation, and access to a range of exclusive features not available in the standard version.
The main focus of WhatsApp Plus lies in dynamic visual customization. Unlike the standard version, which only allows switching between dark and light modes or changing chat wallpapers, WhatsApp Plus will introduce advanced theme customization.
Through this feature, users can access dozens of exclusive colour palettes and a variety of font styles. This enables users to change the main interface colour from the iconic ‘WhatsApp Green’ to a colour that better reflects their personality. Additionally, Meta is reported to be preparing 14 new app icon styles to beautify the home screen appearance.
Beyond visual appeal, WhatsApp Plus also tackles chat-management issues frequently raised by active users. While current limits cap pinning at a maximum of three chats, the premium feature will extend that to 20 conversations.
This expanded capacity will be welcome news for professionals, students, or community managers who handle dozens of important conversations daily. The enhanced access enables much quicker navigation without having to manually search contacts among the deluge of messages.
The WhatsApp Plus experience will also be enriched with exclusive elements, such as premium sticker packs and more interactive message reactions. The audio aspect is also addressed with the introduction of a special ringtone designed exclusively for users. The ringtone not only adds a fresh feel but also helps users distinguish WhatsApp calls or notifications from those of other apps instantly.
Although paid features are being introduced, Meta assures that core WhatsApp features will remain free for all users worldwide. Basic services such as sending text messages, making voice and video calls, and sharing media will not be affected by the presence of paid services.
WhatsApp Plus is built as an add-on feature to the existing service without restricting essential functions. Privacy and security aspects remain a top priority, with all premium features operating within the end-to-end encryption framework.
