Meta Debuts More Affordable Smart Glasses, Starting at IDR 5.3 Million
Meta has introduced a new pair of smart glasses under its own brand name, priced more affordably than previous releases, starting at 299 US dollars or approximately 5.3 million Indonesian rupiah. The tech giant partnered with EssilorLuxottica for this latest wearable device. According to a TechCrunch report on Tuesday (23/6), the glasses are already available in several countries, primarily in the United States, with 26 combinations of frame and lens styles offered. Meta and EssilorLuxottica are considered major players in the smart glasses market, holding an estimated combined market share of over 80 percent based on Counterpoint data from February 2026. In terms of specifications, the Meta Glasses do not feature a display on the lenses but are equipped with a camera and private speakers. Three frame styles have been introduced: the Meta Adventurer, which has a rectangular look and comes in two sizes, standard and large; and the Meta Fury, which features a more squared design resembling popular men’s eyewear. Advanced features include the Meta AI assistant, which is capable of answering questions ranging from sports scores to local restaurant recommendations. Despite the lack of a screen, Meta promises a key ‘Pedestrian Navigation’ feature that will provide users with step-by-step directions for exploring their surroundings. The launch of these more affordable smart glasses comes shortly after Snap released its first smart glasses, Specs, which are priced significantly higher at 2,195 US dollars (approximately 39 million Indonesian rupiah).
