Meta AI App Enters Top 5 on App Store Following Debut of Muse Spark AI Model
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Meta’s AI app experienced a significant increase in downloads after the company debuted its latest AI model, Muse Spark, on Wednesday (8/4) local time.
The new AI model is the first product from Meta’s Superintelligence Labs under the leadership of Alexandr Wang, who was recruited from Scale AI last year.
According to TechCrunch on Thursday (9/4) local time, the increase in downloads of the Meta AI app on users’ mobile phones is also evident from its position in Apple’s App Store, now entering the top 5 ranks.
Based on the latest data from Appfigures, consumer demand for the Meta AI app has driven it up from 57th place just before the launch of Muse Spark on Wednesday to 5th place on the US App Store on Thursday.
The new AI model has driven the surge in new installations. Meta has stated that its new AI model, available on web and mobile, represents a significant improvement over the previous Llama 4 model.
Meta’s multi-billion dollar efforts to recruit AI talent appear to have paid off, successfully attracting attention at the launch of its latest AI model.
Currently, Muse Spark is known to accept multimodal inputs, including voice, text, and images, and has been designed to perform well on a number of tasks, such as helping people learn about their health and reasoning through complex questions in fields like science and mathematics.
The app can also assist with visual coding, enabling users to create websites and mini-games from given prompts.
In addition, Meta AI can launch multiple subagents to handle user queries, the company said.
This model will be rolled out to other platforms, including WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, Messenger, and Meta’s AI glasses, in the coming weeks.
Alongside the model’s launch, the Meta AI mobile app and website have been upgraded with a new look and feel, allowing users to switch between modes depending on the task at hand.
Nevertheless, Alexandr Wang, the figure behind Meta’s new AI model, mentioned the new high ranking in a post on X on Thursday morning, noting that the app is “still evolving.”
Appfigures data shows that the Meta AI app has been installed 60.5 million times worldwide, on both the App Store and Google Play, with 25 million downloads occurring this year alone.
Over the past five months, the number of Meta AI app downloads has increased by 138 percent compared to the first five months since the app became available.
According to Appfigures, India is the main market for Meta AI based on download numbers, followed by the US, Brazil, Pakistan, and Mexico.
