Message from the Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia to Muslims
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, RIYADH – The Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia and Chairman of the Senior Scholars Council, Sheikh Saleh Al-Fawzan, has called on Muslims to increase their good deeds and worship, such as prayer, charity, fasting, and remembrance of Allah during the first ten days of the blessed month of Dzulhijjah.
The Grand Mufti highlighted a Hadith of Prophet Muhammad SAW which shows that good deeds performed during these days are more beloved by Allah SWT than deeds performed at other times.
“Muslims should strive to increase their good deeds during these days (the first ten days of Dzulhijjah), while diligently performing obligatory worship and avoiding sin. These ten days are a blessed period given by Allah to His servants,” he said, quoted from the Saudi Gazette website, Sunday (17/5/2026).
Sheikh Al-Fawzan highlighted the great virtue of fasting on Arafat day for all believers besides pilgrims, saying that this fast expiates sins for two years. The Grand Mufti reminded those who will perform the sacrifice (Udhhiyah) not to cut their hair, nails, or skin from the beginning of the month until the sacrifice is completed.
