Message from Family of Indonesian National Abducted by Israel to the Indonesian Government

The family of Andi Angga Prasetya, one of the Indonesian nationals detained by the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) aboard the humanitarian vessel Global Peace Convoy Indonesia as part of the Global Sumud Flotilla 2026 to Gaza, Palestine, is calling on the government to act swiftly to resolve the case.

Andi Angga Prasetya’s mother, Sutra Wati Kaharudin, said only the government could work to secure the release of the Indonesians detained by the IDF.

‘I hope the government, because only the government can save my son, in this matter I and we as a family can only pray,’ Sutra said in an interview with CNN Indonesia TV, on Tuesday (19/5).

She said Andi’s participation in the voyage to Gaza was solely for a humanitarian mission. She stated that her son was only carrying logistics in the form of food and medicines needed by the people of Gaza. ‘He did not carry weapons; my son is not a terrorist who should be abducted,’ she said.

Sutra also said the last time she spoke with Andi was Monday (3/5) afternoon yesterday. At that time, Andi had informed Sutra that his phone was no longer active, meaning he had been intercepted by the Zionist Israeli military.

‘The government must save its people; I plead with the President and with Mr Prabowo to save my son,’ she said.

Andi Angga is one of nine Indonesians who participated in the GPCI humanitarian voyage on the Global Sumud Flotilla 2026 to Gaza. He is also one of five Indonesians abducted by the Israeli military (IDF) en route to Gaza. The vessel Josef carrying Andi Angga was intercepted by the IDF.

In addition to Andi, the four other Indonesians abducted were Rahendro Herubowo, Andre Prasetyo Nugroho, Thoudy Badai, and Bambang Noroyono, also known as Abeng.
