Message from Gus Yahya to Yaqut's Supporters: We Are Ready to Answer for This Before Allah

The chairman of the central board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU), Yahya Cholil Staquf, conveyed a message regarding the legal case affecting his brother and former Religious Affairs Minister (Menag) Yaqut Cholil Qoumas (YCQ). Gus Yahya expressed confidence that all actions will be accounted for before Allah Almighty.

He conveyed this message to calm the masses who had gathered outside the KPK building when Yaqut was finally detained on Thursday evening, 12 March 2026. The message was delivered by Yahya through a voice note broadcast over loudspeakers to the assembled crowd.

Initially, Yahya expressed respect for the concern shown by Ansor, Banser, and Pagar Nusa towards his brother. Yahya supported the fulfilment of an objective legal process.

“The aspirations of our friends have been conveyed. And now, let us ask Allah Almighty to open the hearts of all people so that justice, whatever the circumstances, must be upheld through the correct process,” said Yahya through the loudspeaker.

He stated that all human actions will be accounted for in the hereafter. This includes his brother’s actions in the hajj quota corruption case. “What is most important after that is that we are all ready to account for everything we have done before Allah Almighty,” said Gus Yahya.

Yahya then urged the gathered supporters of Yaqut to leave the KPK premises, as they had already expressed their views.

“Now, after everything has been carried out and we have declared the contents of our hearts and minds, I ask my friends to strengthen their hearts, be patient, and I ask you to return to your respective homes, to your respective places in an orderly manner,” said Yahya.
