Merpati suspends Palembang flights

PALEMBANG, South Sumatra: Merpati Nusantara Airlines has temporarily suspended its services on the Palembang-Pangkal Pinang-Belitung route starting on Tuesday due to a shortage of aircraft.

The company's sales manager in Palembang, Srianto Senoadi, said the F-27 aircraft used on the daily route, had been moved to serve another route in eastern Indonesia to substitute an airplane under repair.

Merpati only has one aircraft serving the Palembang-Belitung route. It flies once a day.

Senoadi said he hoped the company could resume its services again in the near future as the Palembang-Pangkal Pinang-Belitung route was still promising for business. (33)
