Merpati increases flights

JAKARTA (JP): State-owned air carrier Merpati Nusantara Airlines will increase its Jakarta-Pontianak flight from once to twice a week.

Merpati's general manager of corporate affairs Imam Turidy said on Wednesday the airline has increased the flight frequency to meet rising passenger demand.

He said the increase was also to anticipate the expected rise in passenger demand at the end of the year.

The new schedule will be effective from Oct. 25, but tickets for the new service are already reservable at Merpati agents. (cst)
