Merpati flies to Yogya

JAKARTA (JP): Merpati Nusantara Airlines, a subsidiary of national flag carrier Garuda Indonesia, today begins serving Yogyakarta twice daily.

A spokesman for Merpati, Agus Soedjono, said here yesterday that a DC-9 will depart Jakarta at 7 a.m. for Yogyakarta before proceeding to Denpasar in Bali at 8:50. The aircraft will then depart for Jakarta via Yogyakarta at 11:50.

The second flight, by Fokker-100, is scheduled to leave Jakarta at 3:15 p.m. for Yogyakarta, from which the aircraft will fly back to Jakarta at 5 o'clock.

Merpati operates 90 aircraft including five advanced turbo propellers (ATPs), 11 Cassa-212s, 10 Twin Otters, 13 Fokker-27s, three Fokker-100s, 14 CN-235s, six DC-9s and 28 F-28s. (icn)
