Merdeka Run: These Roads Will Be Closed from 4 AM Tomorrow
The Merdeka Run, part of the 81st Indonesian Independence Day celebrations, will be held in Jakarta tomorrow. Several roads along the route will be closed from 4 AM tomorrow morning.
“Road closures and traffic diversions will begin at 4 AM and last until 8 AM WIB,” said Director of Traffic for Polda Metro Jaya, Senior Commissioner Firman Darmansyah, to reporters on Friday (28/8/2026).
Firman urged the public to use alternative routes during the closure. He asked the public to follow the instructions and directions of officers on the ground.
“For members of the public who wish to carry out activities around the Monas area and Jalan Sudirman-Thamrin, they can use alternative routes,” he said.
The following roads will be closed:

Jl. Veteran III
Jl. Budi Kemuliaan
Jl. Medan Merdeka Selatan
Jl. Kebon Sirih
Jl. KH Wahid Hasyim
Jl. M. Mashabi
Jl. Imam Bonjol
Jl. Teluk Betung
Jl. Kota Bumi
Jl. Jenderal Sudirman
Jl. Medan Merdeka Utara
Alternative routes for the public are as follows:
Jalan Rasuna Said - Jalan HOS Cokroaminoto - Tugu Tani
Jalan K.H. Mas Mansyur - Jalan Cideng Barat - Simpang Harmoni
(From Tomang direction) Jalan Tomang Raya - Simpang Harmoni
