Mercedes-Benz Driver Intercepted by Debt Collectors Over Four-Month Arrears in North Jakarta
A Mercedes-Benz C300 driver was intercepted by a group of debt collectors whilst passing through the Ancol area in Pademangan, North Jakarta. The debt collector group stopped the driver because of four months of unpaid vehicle instalments.
“The Police Sub-Station responded to a report via the 110 emergency line concerning finance or debt collection agents and a debtor (vehicle owner) who had fallen behind on vehicle payments for four months,” said Pademangan Police Sub-Station Commander AKP Daniel Dirgala when contacted on Thursday, 12 March 2026.
Daniel stated that his unit conducted mediation between the creditor and debtor. Both parties agreed that the debtor, the Mercedes owner, would settle the outstanding instalments.
“The Police Sub-Station then facilitated discussions between the creditor and debtor regarding the vehicle instalments. Subsequently, both parties agreed that the debtor would settle the outstanding vehicle payments,” he said.
The incident previously occurred on Jalan Gunung Sahari, specifically in front of Mangga Dua Square, Ancol Village, Pademangan District, North Jakarta, on Tuesday, 10 March. The victim was intercepted and accused of failing to pay vehicle instalments.
“The perpetrators intercepted the vehicle driven by the victim by alleging that vehicle payments had not been made, and the victim reported the incident to police via the 110 emergency line,” said Daniel, as reported by Antara news agency on Wednesday, 11 March.
In response to the rapid follow-up to the victim’s report, Pademangan Police Sub-Station dispatched units from the Criminal Investigation Division. Police arrived and examined several parties at the location.
“We immediately conducted an investigation at the scene and examined several parties,” said Daniel.
Based on the initial complainant F’s account, there were eight perpetrators. They suddenly intercepted the victim on the road and accused him of failing to pay instalments for four months.
“Following the complaint via the 110 emergency line, both the vehicle owner and the debt collection agents were taken to Pademangan Police Sub-Station,” Daniel added.
