Jakarta, Kompas.com — A driver of a Mercedes-Benz C300 was intercepted by several debt collectors at WTC Mangga Dua, Pademangan, North Jakarta, on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.

Muhaiyin Ikhsan, chief of the criminal investigation unit at Pademangan Police Station, explained that the driver, identified only as F, was suddenly approached by debt collectors seeking to recover outstanding car loan instalments.

“After that, we conducted a check at the location and confirmed that the finance company’s documentation was in order,” he said when contacted by Kompas.com on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.

Ikhsan explained that the police only served as facilitators to enable the debt collector and debtor to resolve the matter.

“Both parties have agreed to settle the issue so that the car owner can pay off the outstanding balance,” he said.

He revealed that the vehicle belonging to F was ultimately decided to be held in custody at Pademangan Police Station until the owner settles the loan arrears.

“It will be held at the police station for approximately three days to a week. We are simply facilitating the matter,” he said.

Meanwhile, Daniel Dirgala, chief of Pademangan Police Station, stressed that no arrest was made by his officers in relation to the incident.
