PT KAI Commuter will operate the Rangkasbitung-Merak Commuter Line only as far as Cilegon Station and return to Rangkasbitung Station from Friday, 13 to 20 March 2026 during the Eid holiday exodus to support traffic management and prevent congestion at Merak and Bakauheni ferry ports during the 2026 Eid (1447 Hijra) transport season.

VP Corporate Secretary of KAI Commuter, Karina Amanda, stated in Lebak, Banten on Monday that the operational adjustment of the Rangkasbitung-Merak Commuter Line to terminate at Cilegon Station is necessary due to the expected surge in vehicle traffic and exodus travellers heading to Merak Ferry Port during the Eid holiday period.

For passengers of the Merak Commuter Line travelling to Krenceng and Merak stations, onward transportation will be provided from Cilegon Station. The provision of this continuation service will be coordinated with the arrival and departure times of the Merak Commuter Line at Cilegon Station.

Currently, the average daily passenger volume on the Merak Commuter Line is between 10,000 and 11,000 people. Passengers can book and purchase Merak Commuter Line tickets through the Access By KAI Application from seven days (H-7) before departure or through direct purchase at ticket counters whilst tickets remain available.

KAI Commuter urges all passengers using the Merak Commuter Line to adjust their travel times accordingly. The company also advises passengers to maintain their health during travel, follow all applicable regulations and instructions from staff, safeguard their belongings, and supervise children travelling with them.
