MER-C Indonesia, together with the Muslim Lawyers’ Team (TPM), is urging the Indonesian government to take firm diplomatic steps. This call follows the martyrdom of three TNI soldiers who were part of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) peacekeeping mission. They were killed in an Israeli military attack in southern Lebanon.

According to TPM representative Achmad Michdan, the organisations hope that the case of the three fallen TNI soldiers will be brought before the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court. The Indonesian government, he continued, can take firm diplomatic action.

“We urge the Indonesian government, particularly the Ministry of Defence (Kemenhan) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemenlu), to take firm diplomatic steps and bring this case to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and the International Criminal Court (ICC,” said Achmad Michdan during a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday (1 April 2026).

The organisations also request that the government evaluate the protection protocols for TNI personnel in conflict zones. On the other hand, MER-C Indonesia and TPM demand full accountability from Israel, including an independent investigation and prosecution of the perpetrators as war criminals. The victims’ families are also entitled to compensation.

An independent investigation should also be established by the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). Israel’s attack on UNIFIL peacekeeping forces is a barbaric act that disregards international law.

“The UNSC is also demanded to strengthen the protection mandate for peacekeeping forces and to refer this case to the ICC if necessary,” he said.

TPM and MER-C also call on the international community to act immediately on the repeated war crimes.

“Global solidarity is needed to ensure that there is no impunity for perpetrators of crimes against peacekeeping forces,” he stated.

The three fallen soldiers are Private First Class Farizal Rhomadhon, who was killed on 29 March 2026 due to an artillery attack; Captain Inf Zulmi Aditya Iskandar, who was killed on 30 March 2026 while leading an escort mission; and Sergeant Major Muhammad Nur Ichwan, who was killed in a vehicle explosion incident.
