Traders at Mentigi Market in Batununggul Village will be relocated to Sampalan Public Field, Sampalan Village, Nusa Penida District, Klungkung, Bali. The traders are being temporarily relocated while Mentigi Market undergoes revitalisation. Klungkung Regent I Made Satria explained that a series of consultations had been conducted with all traders. Satria confirmed that all traders had agreed to the relocation. “To ensure that the community’s economic activity continues during the revitalisation, we are carrying out this relocation. For this, we have conducted phased consultations with all traders,” Satria told journalists on Wednesday (15/7/2026). The revitalisation of Mentigi Market is one of the Klungkung Regency Government’s efforts to advance the community’s economic development. Besides road access, according to Satria, the centre of the community’s economic activity on Nusa Penida also requires attention. “This Mentigi Market is slum-like and dirty. Moreover, in the mornings there are often traffic jams. This is what we want to fix through the revitalisation,” Satria explained. The budget for revitalising the largest market on Nusa Penida reaches approximately Rp 94 billion. The project will be carried out with multi-year budgeting for 2026-2027. “This year it is around Rp 47.8 billion. The remainder will be budgeted next year,” Satria clarified. The Klungkung Regency Government has also applied for a loan of Rp 114.1 billion from the Bali Regional Development Bank (BPD Bali). The loan is intended to supplement the Klungkung Regency Government’s limited Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD). The Rp 114.1 billion debt to BPD Bali will be disbursed in two phases. The first phase amounts to Rp 66.2 billion for three projects awaited by residents in Nusa Penida, namely the improvement of the Sampalan-Toya Pakeh road worth Rp 51.92 billion, the Ceningan Ring Road worth Rp 9.5 billion, and the construction of the Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) building at Gema Santi Hospital worth Rp 4.86 billion. The remaining ceiling from the first phase, around Rp 47.8 billion, has been prepared for the first stage of the Mentigi Market construction. Currently, the project has commenced with the initial stage of trader relocation.
