JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Minister for Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP), Maruarar Sirait, has emphasised the use of tiles in renovating residents’ house roofs in the Menteng Tenggulun area, Central Jakarta.

In his directives, Maruarar highlighted the importance of using tiles produced by Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM).

He mentioned several tile-producing regions such as Jatiwangi and Plered as references for local tile production.

Maruarar stressed that types of tiles outside the given instructions should not be used.

“If I have already spoken like this and you still want to use other tiles? Try it if you dare,” he said.

Maruarar stated that the substandard housing renovation (RTLH) programme in the Menteng Tenggulun area will be completed by 15 June 2026.

“Everything finished by 15 June,” said the Gerindra Party politician.

He mentioned that the condition of the area has undergone significant changes compared to three months ago.

Maruarar revealed that the current renovation progress has reached 11.89 percent. Out of a total of 152 houses, 2 units have been completed, while 101 houses are still under construction.

This area arrangement programme is named Kampung Gotong Royong. According to Maruarar, the concept reflects collaborative funding and management.

“We name this Kampung Gotong Royong. Why? Because the funding is collaborative, and the management is also collaborative,” he said.

The arrangement is carried out comprehensively, starting from renovating 152 houses, repairing places of worship, neighbourhood roads, bridges, public toilet facilities, to parking areas.

“This is a settlement, managed entirely, nothing should be missed. If managed, there needs to be costs, people, rules, to agreements. So please involve the residents in discussions,” said Maruarar.
