Menteng Satpol PP nets 14 people with social welfare issues in 'Rebo Tertib' operation

The Menteng District Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) in Central Jakarta rounded up 14 people with social welfare problems (PMKS) during a routine ‘Rebo Tertib’ operation at several locations in the area.

Menteng District Satpol PP Head Hendra said the outreach was carried out together with several related regional working units (SKPD), including the Central Jakarta Social Sub-agency.

“In this operation we netted 14 PMKS,” Hendra said in Jakarta on Wednesday.

The operation targeted a number of locations, including Jalan Blora and Sudirman Station, Jalan Latuharhari, Jalan Pegangsaan, Jalan Lembang, and back to the Jalan Blora area.

During the outreach on Jalan Lembang, officers found five PMKS who tried to avoid the operation by hiding in the toilet of the Achmad Yani Mosque.

However, officers eventually found the five people and took them for further handling. Most of the PMKS netted were new faces and did not yet have identity cards (KTP).

“For further handling, they were taken by the Social Agency to undergo an identification and rehabilitation process,” he said.

In addition to reaching out to PMKS, officers also cleared street vendor (PKL) stalls in the Jalan Blora area. Officers also removed a number of used items stored under a bridge, ranging from scrap, used tables, plywood boards, sacks to used clothing.

Hendra estimated that the items removed by officers during the operation amounted to about one truckload.

“The unused items removed by officers are estimated to amount to about one truck,” Hendra said.
