Menteng Pulo graves relocated

JAKARTA: Some 415 Christian graves in the Menteng Pulo cemetery Block AA I and II, along the roadside of Jl. Casablanca in South Jakarta, will be relocated to Kampong Kandang and Pondok Rangon cemeteries next month.

The City Cemetery Agency head, Hariono Seno said on Monday that people could also relocate their family members' graves to other parts of the Menteng Pulo cemetery that were not affected by the city administration's grave rearrangement project.

He did not elaborate about the rearrangement project. But the graves that are located along the roadside of Jl. Casablanca, is part of the golden triangle in South Jakarta.

He said that the relocation would commence from Aug. 21. But if the grave owners wanted the graves relocated before that date the city cemetry agency will cooperate.

Grave owners can register for the relocation to the Menteng Pulo Cemetry office from Aug. 5 to Aug. 18, every working day and they will be provided with the services for free.--Antara
