Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Erick Thohir stated that the deregulation of 191 Regulations of the Minister of Youth and Sports (Permenpora) has resulted in four new regulations that will be implemented to advance youth development and sports in Indonesia. “From the 191 existing regulations (Permenpora), we have deregulated them so that now only four main regulations remain,” said Erick Thohir when providing information to the media after meeting with Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas in Jakarta on Friday. Erick explained that the four regulations resulting from the deregulation cover youth affairs, sports cultivation, sports achievements, and the sports industry, including sports-based tourism (sport tourism). The Menpora continued that this deregulation stemmed from an evaluation of the numerous regulations in his ministry. They then consulted with the Minister of Law to find solutions to simplify the regulations in the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora), making programme and activity implementation easier without reducing achievements. “Alhamdulillah, we received extraordinary support from the Minister of Law (Supratman Andi Agtas). This can also serve as an example for other ministries. If they face obstacles, they can request support, and it has proven to be on target and timely,” he said. The Menpora elaborated that the results of this deregulation streamline the number of articles to around 600 articles, a reduction of about 60 percent from the previous 1,500 articles. He gave an example of one regulation related to sports achievements where the number of articles was significantly reduced, from around 700 to 200 articles. Furthermore, Erick said that his side also received input from the Minister of Law to strengthen synergy with other ministries in the future, so that there are no overlapping programmes. “We will implement that. In the future, we will coordinate again with the Ministry of Law. In addition, we have also established two new agreements with the Minister of Basic and Secondary Education, and it is planned to have an agreement with the Minister of Higher Education,” said the man who is also the General Chairman of PSSI. The Menpora expressed thanks to the Minister of Law for the support and breakthroughs that have been made, so that the deregulation of 191 Permenpora can be completed on time and provide great benefits to his ministry. The four new Permenpora have been declared valid after being signed by Erick Thohir and promulgated by the Director General of Legislation in the Ministry of Law.
