MenPAN-RB Urges Public to Interpret Independence by Strengthening One Another
The commemoration of the 81st anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia is not merely a celebratory event, but also a moment of unity and mutual strengthening for communities affected by natural disasters in several regions, including East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
This was conveyed by President Prabowo Subianto while directly leading the Proclamation of Independence Seconds Commemoration Ceremony in the courtyard of Merdeka Palace, Jakarta.
“Ladies and gentlemen, let us observe a moment of silence to honour the spirits and services of the nation’s independence heroes who sacrificed life and limb for the independence and honour of the Indonesian nation, and to pray for our brothers and sisters affected by natural disasters in Sumatra, East Nusa Tenggara, and other regions of Indonesia. Moment of silence, begin,” said Prabowo, in a written statement on Monday (17/8/2026).
Minister for Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (MenPAN-RB) Rini Widyantini, after attending the Proclamation of Independence Seconds Commemoration Ceremony, said the 81st anniversary celebration can be interpreted through mutual care, mutual strengthening, mutual cooperation, and looking after one another.
“Actually, today we are celebrating our 81st anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia in circumstances that are not easy. Of course, I also wish to express my heartfelt condolences and hope that our brothers and sisters in NTT and disaster-affected areas can immediately receive assistance and always be given strength,” said Rini.
In line with the theme of the 81st anniversary, ‘A Sovereign, Just, and Prosperous Indonesia’, Indonesia continues to grow.
For 81 years, the government, the public, and the business community have worked together to build Indonesia. Rini also offered prayers for the welfare of all Indonesian people, one of which is through the priority programmes of the president and vice president that directly impact the community.
Entering its 81st year, Rini expressed hope that her staff at the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform can continue to drive bureaucratic reform so that public services become more impactful, faster, more efficient, and more accountable.
Innovation in governance, digital transformation, improvement in the quality of civil service human resources, and better public services are key to realising an advanced and prosperous Indonesia.
Rini also expressed hope that state apparatus, who play a role in running the wheels of government, can make independence a momentum to improve performance, strengthen synergy between agencies, and reinforce their determination to serve the nation and state to the best of their ability.
Through this, it can become a driving force to achieve Golden Indonesia 2045. On the other hand, the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform has also adopted the eight Strategic Steps for Serving the Nation Transformation as a direction to strengthen government transformation.
These steps serve as performance benchmarks for all work units within the ministry over the next five years.
The eight steps are Government Performance Accountability System Management, Agile Government Organisation, Governance Transformation, Superior Civil Servants for Indonesia, Conflict of Interest Management, BerAKHLAK Work Culture, Integrated Digital Government, and Public Service Omni-Channel.
