JAKARTA - Indonesia’s Minister for Hajj and Umrah (Menhaj), Mochamad Irfan Yusuf, has revealed that suitcases for Hajj 2026 pilgrims are beginning to be distributed in phases. Irfan promised that the distribution of pilgrim suitcases is targeted to be completed no later than 17 April 2026. “Regarding logistics readiness, the distribution of pilgrim suitcases continues to proceed. As of now, Saudi Airlines has distributed 74.1 percent of the suitcases, while Garuda Indonesia has reached 50.8 percent,” said Irfan in a press statement on Tuesday (14/4/2026). “Airport and Madinah mission staff will follow on 17-18 April, followed by the Makkah mission on 22-24 April, and the Amirulhaj on 19 May 2026,” he stated. Irfan emphasised the government’s commitment to the implementation of Hajj this year, aiming to ensure the comfort of pilgrims during their stay in the Holy Land. To that end, the Ministry of Hajj has instructed improvements to hotel facilities that were previously highlighted by the House of Representatives (DPR) of the Republic of Indonesia. “We have coordinated with hotel managers so that all notes from the esteemed House members can be followed up, particularly regarding improvements to facilities such as carpets, curtains, as well as ablution and sanitation areas to make them safer and more comfortable for pilgrims,” he said. “We are fully committed to carrying out the mandate of organising the Hajj pilgrimage in a professional, transparent, and responsible manner,” he asserted firmly.
