Menhaj Meets Saudi Ambassador, States Hajj Preparations for 2026 Nearly 100% Complete
Minister of Hajj and Umrah (Menhaj) Mochamad Irfan Yusuf, or Gus Irfan, met with the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Indonesia, Faisal Abdullah Al Amoudi, to discuss Hajj preparations. Gus Irfan stated that the Hajj preparations are almost 100% complete. “Alhamdulillah, I just had a lengthy discussion with him (the Saudi Ambassador to Indonesia) regarding Hajj preparations in Indonesia. Alhamdulillah, our Hajj preparations are almost 100% complete. Everything is finished, visas have been issued, and accommodation, catering, and other matters are all settled,” said Gus Irfan after the meeting at the Menhaj office in Central Jakarta on Tuesday (7/4/2026). Gus Irfan hopes that the situation in the Middle East will not affect the Hajj preparations and the departure of pilgrims. He mentioned that conflicts in the Middle East have caused many obstacles on the ground. “Hopefully, the unfavourable situation in the Middle East, where many wars are occurring, will not impact our Hajj preparations and pilgrim departures. We are also aware that this warfare situation causes various obstacles on the ground, including and especially the sharp rise in fuel costs, which have almost doubled or more,” he said. Gus Irfan hopes that all parties involved in the conflict can respect the Hajj procession. He hopes the Hajj can proceed solemnly. “We hope that the battles that have already occurred and are ongoing can soon subside, and especially in honour of the Hajj pilgrim departure preparations, we hope both sides can reduce tensions so that the Hajj ritual from around the world can proceed solemnly,” he said. Meanwhile, Faisal Abdullah stated that the Saudi Embassy will continue to coordinate with the Indonesian government. They will keep providing assistance for the smooth conduct of the Hajj pilgrimage. “At the Saudi Embassy, we will certainly continue our efforts to always coordinate and collaborate, as well as alleviate any problems that may be faced. Of course, we are ready to provide support and assistance for the Hajj pilgrimage to be carried out well and smoothly,” he said.
