TANGERANG - The Minister of Hajj and Umrah of the Republic of Indonesia, Mochamad Irfan Yusuf, or Gus Irfan, has emphasised that he does not want the negative records from last year’s Hajj pilgrimage, or 1445 Hijriah, to repeat in this year’s implementation.

At the National Coordination Meeting for the Consolidation of the 1447 Hijriah or 2026 AD Hajj Pilgrimage Implementation at the Tangerang Hajj Dormitory, Irfan asked his subordinates to underline his statement.

“I emphasise very clearly, I do not want the negative records from last year to repeat this year. Once again, I underline, I do not want the negative records from last year to repeat,” said Irfan in front of the Ministry of Hajj officials attending the National Coordination Meeting on Wednesday (8/4/2026).

“What are those negative records? Separated families, husbands and wives. Nusuk even until returning home has never been used, that happened,” he said.

“Then the food chaos on Tashreeq days, then transportation chaos. Please make this a consideration for the team to be discussed at this year’s coordination meeting,” he said.

Having been reminded, Irfan emphasised that he would not tolerate negligence or delays that disappoint the Hajj pilgrims.

“Why did we prepare Hajj officers 20 days ago very seriously? Because we do not want any negligence to occur due to our unpreparedness,” he said.

Because negligence by Hajj officers has an impact that not only disrupts comfort but directly threatens the safety of the pilgrims.

“The emphasis that service to pilgrims is a trust, not just an administrative task. Even small mistakes will have a very big impact on the comfort and safety of the pilgrims,” he concluded.
