Mengwi Terminal Sees Peak of Idul Adha Homecoming Rush Today

Peak of the Idul Adha long holiday travel rush at Mengwi Terminal in Badung, Bali, is predicted to occur today, Tuesday (26 May 2026). The terminal has been busy with passengers since midday.

Head of Mengwi Type A Terminal, I Dewa Gede Tantara Tesa Putra, said passenger surges have been evident in recent days leading up to midweek.

“The peak is today. We estimate passenger numbers will reach 3,200 departing until services end tonight,” said the Head of Mengwi Type A Terminal, I Dewa Gede Tantara Tesa Putra.

Data as of 25 May 2026 shows 2,665 departing passengers at the terminal. According to Dewa, most passengers are heading to various cities in Java.

“Normally, daily averages are 1,400 to 1,800, but now it has reached 2,600 to 2,800 passengers. This is the cutoff data from last night; figures are still changing,” Dewa Gede explained.

Dewa Tantara confirmed the passenger surge is due to the Idul Adha long holiday. Passenger numbers are projected to continue rising until today’s peak.

“Based on initial data, the usual 1,400 to 1,800 has risen to 2,867. Indeed, there is an increase during the Idul Adha long holiday, and we predict it will reach around 3,200,” he stated.

Terminal management has also tightened oversight of all operating bus representatives. This measure aims to prevent service providers from unilaterally raising fares during the passenger surge.

Dewa said officers have displayed ticket price information within the terminal. He hopes travellers have official fare references for their hometown journeys and avoid being scammed by touts.
