Mendukbangga: Employees Working from Home Must Always Maintain Professionalism
The implementation of WFH must still maintain professionalism. Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Population and Family Development (Mendukbangga)/Head of BKKBN Wihaji has reminded employees carrying out the government policy of working from home (WFH) to always maintain professionalism. Wihaji reiterated that the policy is being implemented by the government as a result of the current global geopolitical situation, which is also affecting the ministry’s internal policies, thus requiring sensitivity to the main objective of energy saving. “As an adaptive step, Kemendukbangga/BKKBN supports the WFH policy every Friday. However, the implementation of WFH must still maintain professionalism, with all employees remaining on standby during working hours and within a maximum radius of 50 metres from their place of residence,” he said in an official statement in Jakarta on Wednesday. He stated that Kemendukbangga/BKKBN continues to emphasise its commitment to ensuring the optimal implementation of priority programmes through strengthened integrated monitoring and evaluation, which is part of efforts to keep programme performance adaptive, effective, and responsive amid global dynamics affecting various sectors, including government governance and public services. “With all Kemendukbangga/BKKBN employees, this WFH policy can achieve efficiency in fuel oil (BBM) of up to 68,000 litres per day,” he said. This efficiency is expected to support the government’s efforts in sustainable resource management amid global challenges. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (KemenPAN-RB) has reminded all central and regional agencies to comply with the work-from-home (WFH) policy every Friday for all civil servants (ASN). In a press release from the Indonesian Government Communication Agency (Bakom) in Jakarta on Wednesday, it was mentioned that the Minister of PAN-RB has issued Circular Letter (SE) Number 3 of 2026 on the Performance of Official Duties for ASN Employees in Government Agencies. Both the SE from MenPANRB and the SE from the Minister of Home Affairs include provisions on determining the WFH day, namely Friday. These two SEs will be effectively implemented starting this week, as last Friday was a holiday. It is hoped that through these SEs, central and regional agencies can use them as guidelines. KemenPAN-RB explained that so far there are no regulations regarding sanctions for central or regional agencies that do not comply with the provisions in the SE. However, KemenPAN-RB can issue warning letters. It was emphasised, “The SE does not include sanctions, but it is still possible to issue warning letters.”
