Mendukbangga: 6.2 million MBG distributed for 3B targets
West Java’s Cianjur – The Minister of Population and Family Development (Mendukbangga) and Head of the National Population and Family Planning Board (BKKBN), Wihaji, said that 6.2 million Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) for the 3B targets – pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and toddlers – have been distributed by 52,000 Family Mentoring Teams (TPK) as of today. ‘Alhamdulillah, this MBG 3B programme will also run across Indonesia, even if not yet in the most remote areas,’ he said during a working visit to Cianjur, West Java, on Wednesday. Wihaji also confirmed that all daily MBG 3B-delivering TPKs receive an incentive of Rp1,000 per ompreng, in line with a decision by the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) together with Mendukbangga/BKKBN. ‘Some TPKs walk here to deliver MBG, and the incentive has already been received. So, alhamdulillah, while exercising to stay healthy in fulfilling national duties, they also receive small tips,’ he said. ‘Like this, some walk, some ride motorcycles, some are in the mountains, including in Cipanas. This is clearly part of the President’s mandate,’ he added. MBG for the 3B target is viewed as effective in reducing stunting because in the first 1,000 days of life, i.e., ages 0-2, the intervention can prevent poor growth and help shape the baby’s brain. Mendukbangga/BKKBN also collaborates with the TP PKK to ensure the MBG 3B programme’s success, while educating families. He explained that TP PKK is part of the force that directly reaches communities down to the ground, with more than 597,000 TPK, most of whom are PKK administrators and posyandu cadres.
