Mendiktisaintek: Education development must be holistic and sustainable
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Mendiktisaintek), Brian Yuliarto, conveyed the importance of developing the national education system within a holistic and sustainable ecosystem so that scientific knowledge can be utilised to create innovation. He delivered this message as an official address during the National Education Day commemoration ceremony at the courtyard of Building A of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Saturday morning. “We must build the national education system as a holistic and sustainable ecosystem, from home, school, to higher education, from learning to research, from knowledge to innovation,” said Mendiktisaintek Brian at the courtyard of Building A of Kemendikdasmen in Senayan. This is because he believes the world is changing very rapidly due to technological advancements, so education must move forward. To ensure the direction of this transformation, he stated that Kemendikdasmen has promoted the implementation of deep learning so that students do not merely memorise, but also understand, reason, feel, and apply the knowledge gained in real life. “This foundation is strengthened through the School Development and Revitalisation Programme as well as Learning Digitalisation as part of the President’s Quick Win Programme, including the use of Interactive Digital Boards (PID) in educational units,” added Brian. In addition, he mentioned that Kemendikdasmen is also strengthening the role of educators through the Prior Learning Recognition (RPL) Programme, training such as Deep Learning, Coding and Artificial Intelligence, and improving welfare through certification and incentives. This strengthening of roles, he said, continues in higher education through lecturers and researchers in building an academic ecosystem, considering that a strong foundation must be continued into strength to address future challenges. “A strong foundation must be continued into strength that addresses future challenges. Here is where the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology plays the role of an accelerator for the nation’s progress,” he stated. Therefore, he invited all relevant ministries and institutions to strengthen universal participation and provide quality education that is inclusive, relevant, and impactful for all.
