Mataram (ANTARA) - Members of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) have paid attention to the handling of the alleged gratification case involving the NTB Provincial Legislative Council (DPRD) during a working visit to the NTB High Prosecutor’s Office in Mataram on Wednesday.

Commission III member Aboe Bakar Al-Habsyi stated that they received a written explanation from the prosecutor’s office regarding the progress of the case.

“We raised all issues earlier. Due to limited time, we received written responses. It would be more optimal if the meeting could last longer,” he said.

In addition to the NTB DPRD gratification case, Commission III also requested explanations regarding the handling of the death of a female student at Nipah Beach in North Lombok Regency. In the meeting, the explanation was provided by the NTB Police, representing the investigation by the North Lombok Police Resort.

Previously, three defendants in the NTB DPRD gratification case, namely Indra Jaya Usman, Hamdan Kasim, and Muhammad Nashib Iqroman, submitted official complaints to several national-level institutions, such as the Attorney General’s Office, the Prosecutor’s Commission, and Commission III of the DPR RI.

They requested supervision and evaluation of the handling of the case, which is currently ongoing in court.

One of the highlighted issues is the role of the bribe recipients from the elected NTB DPRD members.

It was mentioned that 15 individuals handed over money suspected to be related to the case to the prosecutor’s office during the investigation phase, with a total value of around Rp2 billion as a form of restitution.

In addition to discussing prominent cases, Commission III also highlighted budget constraints in several local law enforcement agencies.

“We will bring those budget complaints to the centre,” Aboe Bakar said.
