West Lombok, NTB — Member of Commission V of the House of Representatives Abdul Hadi has commended the implementation of four road upgrade projects on Lombok Island, West Nusa Tenggara, by the central government, noting that the results can now be enjoyed by local communities.

“Specifically for roads in 2025, we were able to assist the Lombok constituency with four road sections,” he said in Mataram on Tuesday.

He identified the four road sections as the widening of the Paokmotong-Kotaraja road with a contract value exceeding Rp26 billion, the preventive maintenance of the Labuan Lombok-Sambelia provincial road with a contract value of more than Rp25 billion, the preventive maintenance of the Labuan Lombok-Sambelia road with a contract value exceeding Rp17.3 billion, and the upgrade of the Pesanggarahan-Kumbak-Banyu Urip-Tempos road with a contract value of more than Rp8.4 billion.

“These roads have been completed on time and are well laid out so that they can be used by the public,” he said.

Abdul Hadi, who represents the NTB Lombok Island constituency, said the upgrades to both provincial and district roads are part of the 2025 Regional Road Presidential Instruction (IJD) programme, including the implementation of Presidential Instruction Number 11 of 2025 on Accelerating Regional Road Connectivity Improvements to Support Food and Energy Self-Sufficiency.

“Moreover, these roads also support improved access to tourist destinations,” he added.

He reaffirmed his commitment to continuing to oversee various infrastructure development programmes in the regions.

He said that, together with the Ministry of Public Works, he has played a role in ensuring the disbursement and realisation of the road construction budget.

“We at Commission V of the House of Representatives are striving to ensure that road construction in the regions, including on Lombok Island, is carried out properly. Better road conditions will facilitate inter-regional connectivity and support the economic activities of local communities,” said the former member of the NTB Provincial Legislative Council.

According to him, adequate road infrastructure will have a direct impact on accelerating the regional economy and improving public welfare.

“With proper road access, the distribution of agricultural produce, business activities, and the mobility of residents will become smoother. This is a tangible manifestation of the government’s support in strengthening the people’s economy,” he said.

Looking ahead, he expressed hope that similar road improvement programmes would continue across various areas of Lombok Island so that the benefits could be felt more widely by the public. He also suggested that provincial roads could have their status upgraded to national roads.

“We hope that infrastructure development like this continues so that communities in the regions find it increasingly easy to go about their activities and experience the benefits of development directly. These roads now simply need to be maintained,” he said.
